Impact study of EdTech in India: Driving innovation & creating opportunities is a 2025 study of the edtech sector by the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI), an industry association, and Grant Thornton Bharat, a professional services firm. It looks at what edtech platforms do for learners through a 4A framework: academic quality, accessibility, affordability, and advancing employment.
The study combines a market review, interviews with edtech company leaders, and a survey of platform users in Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 cities. Its survey figures record what respondents said about the platforms they use; they are not measured learning outcomes.

Accessibility
98% of teachers saw a high or very high impact in reaching students from rural and marginalised backgrounds and in raising the participation of female students, and 61% of students said their platform supported regional languages extensively.
Barriers to access
25% of students and 44% of teachers named connectivity and technical issues as a challenge when using edtech platforms.
Affordability
86% of students considered edtech platforms more affordable than traditional options, and 69% said they used free resources.
Advancing employment
94% of teachers said edtech platforms give students essential skills that improve their job prospects, and 87% of students said the platforms help them get ready for the job market.
Market and jobs
The study puts the Indian edtech market at USD 7.5 billion in 2024, projected to reach USD 29 billion by 2030, and estimates that the sector has created over 75,000 jobs in the past five to seven years.
Suggestions for policymakers
The report asks policymakers to reconsider Goods and Services Tax (GST) on edtech services, give targeted financial support for outreach in underserved areas, and use edtech to help meet the goals of the National Education Policy 2020.
