Hi Reader,
This is a picture of my desk from earlier this week. It’s been like this for a while now! I will tell you why this is worth sharing with you all.
You would know this very well that when it comes to digital learning, hardware devices, and the OS forms the biggest component of the cost. However, this can become a barrier to accessing quality digital content. Across the entire spectrum of types of schools where students learn in India, some students have 0 to limited access to a low-end smartphone, several have old laptops still using Windows 9 version while of course there are many who are using tablets and high-end iOS devices.
Our vision statement says, “Facilitating Universal Access to Learning and Growth“. To be truly able to achieve universal learning, we knew that we will have to remove the hardware and hence the cost barrier to learning. This can be done by developing a learning app compatible with all hardware devices and operating systems. It is only by doing this can we eliminate dependency on specific hardware devices or OS and hence ensure that anyone can access iPrep and all the local language content with no additional cost burden.
It has been a long journey, but we’re happy to share that iPrep is now truly universal
Today iPrep as a Learning Platform works on all hardware devices such as Smartphones, Tablets, Laptops, Desktops, Smart TVs, Kyan Projectors, Android Projectors, Interactive Touch panels, Chromebooks, and more. Plus iPrep is compatible on Windows, Android, Web, and iOS. We can even deliver iPrep on Linux if required with some minor work and fine-tuning.
This has given us an amazing opportunity to work even in those schools that have unutilized Windows devices and those who want to provide digital learning at the most affordable cost using a Smart TV. Last year, we worked with 7,500 girl children in UP who used iPrep on all types of low-end Android devices. An independent study was conducted which found a 32% improvement in English, 52% improvement in Math, and 34% improvement in Science over the baseline scores. Without iPrep’s ability to work across devices and OS, this would not have been possible.
When we reflect back on the journey, we feel proud but also humbled that with finer innovation we have a chance to transform rural education and last mile learning in India.
