As 2024 comes to a close, I’ve been reminiscing about the formative years of iDream Education. When we started in 2016, Puneet and I spent much of our time in the field, working closely with teachers and students at the grassroots level to understand the real challenges of digital learning.
One of the most memorable milestones from those early days was in 2017, when the Ministry of Education organized a Think Tank and invited various stakeholders from the education industry to deep dive and share a suggestive roadmap for the Education Policy.
For ICT and Digital Learning, around 20 organizations were called and iDream Education was also invited for the deliberation. After two days of intense brainstorming with education leaders, Puneet was chosen as their representative to make the final presentation and suggestions to the Honorable Minister of Education and the Ministry officials for improvements to the ICT Policy.
Our inputs were instrumental in shaping key revisions to the ICT Policy, which was later integrated into the broader Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan. Notably, the revised policy included initiatives such as DIKSHA and Swayam, along with the inclusion of tablets for school learning.
Fast forward to today, it’s inspiring to see how partnerships between the social sector, government, hardware providers, and other ecosystem players are making digital learning accessible at all levels. Together, we’re bridging learning gaps and empowering students with personalized solutions to meet their learning needs.

Building on the foundation of our inputs from the ICT policy Think Tank, It is heartening to see how the ecosystem has been evolving since the ICT policy revision. The states of Haryana and AP have been the first two states to introduce Personalised Adaptive Learning at a massive scale. Efforts such as DIKSHA are bringing together content of multiple types and from various sources together on a single platform.
Going ahead we see a case of strong acceptance for PAL. However this needs to be backed with data. From our work and interactions, I can tell you that there are a lot of deliberations happening in the industry to build data backed evidence for PAL. India as a country is now keen and serious about bridging the learning gaps and PAL is emerging as a strong solution.
