Bringing IFP-Based Smart Classrooms in Uttarakhand Schools

IFP-based smart classroom in a Uttarakhand school for digital teaching and learning

Implementing digital learning solutions in high-terrain regions comes with its own set of challenges and opportunities. In the hilly landscapes of Dugadda and Kotdwar in Uttarakhand, schools are located far apart, connected by narrow, winding roads. Yet, these very regions hold a strong aspiration for better learning experiences. It was in this context that the IFP based Smart Classroom implementation journey began. The project aimed at making quality digital education accessible even in remote, mountainous locations.

About the implementation of IFP-Based Smart Classrooms in Uttarakhand

Under this initiative, the NGO, in collaboration with the funding partner, partnered with us to implement Smart Classes across 22 schools in Uttarakhand, following a phased approach. Phase 1 covered 12 schools, while Phase 2 successfully completed 10 additional schools. Each school was equipped with a BRIO 65-inch Interactive Flat Panel (IFP) with preinstalled LMS and preloaded Uttarakhand board digital content for Classes 1 to 12, available in both Hindi and English mediums. This ensured that teachers could immediately begin using digital resources without dependence on internet connectivity and aligning with textbooks.

The on-ground execution was both challenging and rewarding.

Schools were spread across hilly terrain, and travel between locations required careful planning and coordination. Despite these conditions, teacher training and onboarding were completed in all schools within the planned timeline, thanks to the strong on-ground support and coordination of the NGO team.

What made this journey truly special was the response from the schools themselves. Teachers and students were visibly enthusiastic when they saw the IFPs installed in their classrooms. Teachers actively participated in training sessions, eager to explore new ways of teaching, while students welcomed the technology with excitement and curiosity. As a smart class provider, the complete support from the NGO and the warm reception from the schools turned a challenging implementation into a deeply fulfilling experience – one that reaffirmed the power of collaboration in transforming education, even in the most difficult terrains.
