The ICT Scheme Under Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan has been drafted to promote ICT and Digital
learning among government schools through different initiatives including ICT Labs,
Smart
Classrooms, and Tablet for Teachers
The ICT Scheme was revised in the year 2018 when RMSA and Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan were
merged to create Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan .
The central government provides funds to state governments every year to execute 3 major digital education initiatives in their government schools
The Ministry of Education centrally promotes smart classrooms for all government schools in India.
One of the notable examples of this Operation Digital Board is to leverage technology to boost
quality education in the country. Under Operation
Digital Board,
the central government has planned
to set up digital classrooms across all government schools in the country. To achieve this, every
year budgets are provided to state governments under the ICT Scheme of Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan
(SSA).
A smart classroom is a technologically enriched learning environment that leverages digital tools
and
resources to elevate the teaching and learning experience. By seamlessly integrating smart class

The central government provides a fixed grant of 2.40 lakh per school to set up Smart Classroom in government schools
A recurring grant of 0.38 lakh for E-Content and Digital Resources, Charges for Electricity
ICT Labs can be set up using Tablets, Desktops, Notebooks, and in different formats. They provide
personalized digital learning to government school students inside the schools and are equipped with
a charging and storage rack that can accomodate 5 to over 45 devices, such as tablets, Chromebooks,
or notebooks.
