Smart Class For Bihar Board: Implementing the iPrep Digital Class in Schools
For many government schools in rural regions, the idea of technology-enabled classrooms often feels distant. In several villages, digital access is limited to mobile phones owned by parents, while concepts like learning from a TV screen or a smart classroom remain unheard of. For these schools, digital textbooks, animated lessons, and visual explanations were never considered a practical reality.
Digitising schools in remote and low-bandwidth regions is undoubtedly challenging – but not impossible. With this belief, an NGO, along with its funding partners, collaborated with us to bring Smart Class for Bihar Board government schools. The shared goal was clear: ensure that geography and infrastructure do not become barriers to quality digital learning.
In January 2023, we implemented the iPrep Digital Class across 25 rural Bihar Board schools in Muzaffarpur, Bihar. Each Smart Class for Bihar board was pre-loaded with curriculum-aligned digital content for Classes 1 to 8, available in both Hindi and English. The solution was designed to work offline seamlessly even in low-connectivity environments, making it suitable for rural classrooms.

This implementation was especially significant for us as it marked our first-ever direct deployment in Bihar. Until then, our reach in the state was largely through distributors. This time, we had the opportunity to work closely with schools, observe classroom usage firsthand, and gather direct feedback from teachers and students in a rural government school setting.
To ensure smooth adoption, our team conducted on-ground, experiential teacher training of smart class for all 25 Bihar board schools. Teachers were introduced not only to how the Smart Class works, but also to how it could support their teaching outcomes. The response was encouraging – teachers appreciated content that was fully aligned with Bihar Board textbooks. This eliminated the need to juggle between mismatched resources. Smart Classes for bihar board and textbooks naturally came together as a blended learning approach.
The impact was visible early on. In the very first month – January 2023 – we recorded over 200 hours of classroom usage, despite it being close to exams and the academic year-end.
