Strengthening foundational learning through digital learning for FLN

At the primary school level, teachers often need to work across multiple learning resources to plan lessons, explain concepts, and assess where students are in their learning. Access to structured, age-appropriate teaching and learning materials is not always available in one place. Teachers may therefore spend significant time referring to different resources and aligning them with the competencies and learning goals outlined in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework (NCF), while also adapting them to different learning levels within the classroom. This creates a need for accessible, structured resources that can support teachers in planning and delivering Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) more effectively.

To address this need, a non-profit organisation working to strengthen foundational education partnered with iDream Education to expand access to digital learning across two schools.

The implementation brought together the client, school leadership, teachers, and iDream Education to create a practical foundational digital learning environment. As part of the intervention, 12 Smart Classes were set up with 65-inch BenQ panels, supported by digital learning content for PS1, PS2, PS3, Vidya Pravesh, and Classes 1–5. Content was made available in both English and Hindi Medium, allowing teachers to select resources aligned with their language of instruction and students’ learning needs.

Implementation focused on integrating the technology into everyday classroom practices rather than treating it as a standalone infrastructure upgrade. Teachers were introduced to the Smart Class solution and FLN content, enabling them to explore resources relevant to their lessons and learners.

During teacher onboarding and training, a high level of teacher engagement and proactive involvement from the client team was observed. Following the training, teachers seamlessly began incorporating Smart Class resources into their everyday teaching practices, creating more opportunities to use visual and interactive digital content with young learners. The NGO’s project coordinator also closely monitored usage and supported teachers in integrating the solution into regular classroom routines, helping reinforce consistent use of digital learning resources.

We look forward to building on this momentum by strengthening regular usage of the Smart Class solution and supporting teachers in making digital learning an integral part of everyday classroom practice.
