Strengthening learning opportunities through blended digital learning in Jharkhand schools
In Jharkhand, creating stronger opportunities for marginalised communities means addressing the different factors that shape their everyday lives – from education and livelihoods to the environment and access to creative expression. Foundations and NGOs are working towards this through initiatives that respond to these diverse needs. One such foundation that works across music, education, sustainable livelihoods and environmental conservation. As part of their broader effort, partnered with iDream Education to strengthen educational opportunities for children studying in resource-constrained schools, with a focus on giving them greater access to digital learning.
The programme was designed to address practical classroom challenges.
While schools had committed teachers and learners, limited digital infrastructure and varying learning levels made it difficult to provide additional academic support to children who needed it most. The partnership focused on strengthening classroom teaching through carefully planned use of digital learning rather than simply introducing new technology.
The implementation combined smart classroom and PAL.
Before classroom implementation began, digital learning licenses were activated, and baseline assessments were conducted to understand each student’s current learning level. This data-driven approach ensured that digital resources could be allocated thoughtfully according to learner needs.
Based on the assessment findings, students performing at grade level were given access to iPrep, which provides curriculum-aligned digital content to support classroom learning. Students demonstrating learning gaps were provided access to iPrep PAL, enabling them to learn through personalised and adaptive pathways designed to strengthen foundational understanding at an appropriate pace.
Preparing teachers was an essential part of the implementation.
Orientation sessions familiarised them with the digital platform, explained how assessment results would guide learner allocation, and demonstrated effective ways to integrate digital resources into regular classroom instruction. This preparation enabled teachers to use the available devices strategically, ensuring that limited resources reached the learners who would benefit most.
Within few days of training, teachers began incorporating digital learning into classroom routines while schools established structured processes for device usage and learner access. Early observations showed teachers actively engaging with the platform and using assessment insights to support instructional planning.
The programme will continue through regular monitoring, usage analytics and ongoing academic support.
