Bringing Offline Digital Learning to U.P.S. Lakhnaur Merge, Saharanpur
Access to quality digital learning should not depend on where a school is located. At U.P.S. Lakhnaur Merge in rural Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, teachers were committed to helping students learn, but the school had no dedicated digital leraning setups such as ICT lab or student computing devices. Limited access to technology meant that classroom instruction relied primarily on conventional teaching methods, making it difficult to introduce engaging digital learning experiences.
Recognising this need, a non-profit organisation working to bridge the digital divide partnered with iDream Education to create a technology-enabled learning environment that could support everyday teaching.
The implementation included Smart Classroom hardware with preinstalled Learning Management System (LMS) and comprehensive curriculum-aligned digital content that functions entirely offline. The classroom was equipped to give teachers access to interactive videos and digital learning resources across subjects, enabling them to enrich lessons while ensuring uninterrupted access even when internet connectivity was unreliable.
Teacher training was an important part of the implementation process.
They received orientation on operating the Smart Classroom, accessing offline content and incorporating digital resources into regular classroom instruction. The emphasis was on helping teachers use technology confidently within existing lesson plans, making the transition practical and aligned with the school’s day-to-day teaching practices.
During implementation, teachers began integrating digital content into routine classroom sessions, using interactive resources to explain concepts and support student participation. Usage data reflects steady adoption of the solution, with 2 registered users completing nearly 1,500 learning sessions and recording over 69 hours of meaningful digital learning. These observations demonstrate that the Smart Classroom has been consistently used as part of everyday teaching rather than as an occasional activity.
