The COVID-19 pandemic has caused significant disruptions in the education sector, with school closures resulting in significant learning gaps among students. This has led to concerns among government school teachers that it may result in increased dropouts and long-term learning gaps among students. Cipla Foundation, a social arm of India’s third-largest pharma company, recognized this issue and partnered with iDream Education to enable personalized learning devices with local language digital content for uninterrupted learning at home.

Each educational tablet was given with an SD card preloaded with digital content of classes 9th and 10th aligned to the state boards in English and Marathi Medium. Offline access to this content of class 9th was provided to help students cover their learning gaps in a non-judgmental environment in their homes.

The results of this initiative have been impressive, with students spending an average of 45 minutes to 1 hour per day on tablets for at least 15 to 20 days a month. In a survey conducted with the students, close to 70% reported that the animated video lessons and offline practice papers helped them improve their understanding of concepts taught by their teachers and perform better in exams and tests.
