The ASER Report 2022 brings attention to nationwide statistics emphasizing fundamental reading and arithmetic skills among children aged 5-16. The examination reveals a steady enhancement in both basic reading and math from 2014 to 2018.

Unfortunately, the pandemic years disrupted the progress.

As of 2022, merely 25% of Grade III students demonstrated proficiency at the ‘grade level’ in mathematics, and approximately 20% achieved the same in reading.

However, the report also highlights significant disparities among states in both learning levels and the recovery process, particularly in Grade III.

The report indicates that even before COVID-19, there was substantial variation in basic learning levels across states. The pandemic has further worsened the situation in numerous states. The degree of decline in math proficiency between 2018 and 2022 also varies significantly among states. Nevertheless, certain states have demonstrated that quick progress is achievable.

Key Insights: Takeaways from the Data

  • This implies that the majority of children require immediate assistance in developing Foundational Literacy Numeracy skills.
  • A significant effort is necessary in the early grades to ensure that children can achieve the NIPUN Bharat Mission in the coming years.

How can we achieve Foundational Literacy and Numeracy skills to fulfill the NIPUN Bharat Mission?

We firmly believe that in classroom teaching, a one-to-many approach, assessing individual learning levels can be a concern for a teacher, leading to the emergence of learning gaps. The post-COVID era worsened these gaps, particularly in the early stages of learning, where students heavily depend on their teachers for guidance.

This leads to an imperative need for Personalized Adaptive Learning Solutions

iPrep PAL is one such digital learning solution meticulously designed and tailored for adaptive learning, offering a suitable approach to help students from Grade 3 and beyond establish a strong foundation before progressing to higher grades.

Already in use by students of Class 11th and 12th across schools in Haryana, PAL has demonstrated positive outcomes. Students are gaining clarity on foundational topics and chapters based on their unique learning levels. Data from PAL usage in Grades 11th and 12th indicates students in the subjects of Business, Economics, and Geography showed an average improvement of 44% as they transitioned from foundational learning to achieving proficiency at the grade level.

To ensure that “children who fall behind, don’t get left behind, as specified in Nipun Bharat Mission” requires a personalized adaptive learning approach. iPrep PAL is an adaptive learning solution for students from 3rd to 12th grade because we believe starting as early as 3rd grade, students exhibit curiosity and the ability to learn independently, guided by adaptive support, said
