How does iPrep’s Digital Content for Early Age Learning Solve 3 Key FLN challenges in Anganwadi?

A very detailed report on Early Childhood Education in India was published recently by Central Square Foundation in association with Key Education Foundation. Three key aspects highlighted in the report particularly stood out to us. Why? Because over the past year, we have been developing digital content for early learning that addresses these three areas. Read on to discover how our work addresses these critical needs.

The First Aspect:  ECE curriculum in most states has not made much provision for assessments

This came as a surprising fact because if there are no assessments, there is no structured way to access the progress of the students. With no data available with the teachers, it is difficult to imagine them designing classroom interventions for improvement in learning. Anyways due to lack of training of the Anganwadi worker and their involvement in several other activities beyond learning, there isn’t much time left for them to dedicate towards student learning. On top of it, whatever they may be teaching, there is no provision to quantify the impact of it.

How is iPrep addressing this?

  • iPrep’s digital content for early age learning includes structured assessments that address every Learning Objective and Competency. These assessments are designed to meet the three Development Goals outlined in the National Curriculum Framework

We have divided the Learning Objectives into lessons spread across various grades and subjects. These lessons are further structured into PS1, PS2, PS3, and even Vidya Pravesh. For each of these lessons, we have designed assessments to help an Anganwadi worker understand the learning levels and the journey of the students. For several of these lessons, we have put together image based assessments. This makes learning inside the classroom fun and enjoyable.

The Second Aspect: ECE curriculum has a mandated 30 mins of play time included as a part of the daily routine

However, the Early Childhood Education in India report mentions that there are no resources for the teachers to know what to do in those play time.

How is iPrep addressing this?

  • iPrep’s digital content for early age learning is not an exact replacement of play time but it becomes the next best alternative with its play-based joyful content aligned with the National Curriculum Framework.

By Integrating iPrep’s FLN Digital Content teachers/facilitators are able to involve children in playing fun games and do enjoyable activities inside the classroom. For all the levels of PS1, PS2 and PS3 and then for Grades 1 and 2, iPrep has puzzles and activity based worksheets. All of these play way learning units are connected with the age appropriate learning objectives and have been designed to meet them in a fun way. These worksheets and puzzles have instructions for the teacher/facilitator which they can read through and implement them comfortably with the students.

The Third Aspect: Most states have a Teacher Handbook but it is too complicated and requires a teacher to do a lot of cross referencing from multiple places

In the process of making it easier for Anganwadi workers to deliver learning resources, the introduction of the Teacher Handbook has unintentionally added complexity, making their work more challenging.

How is iPrep addressing this?

  • iPrep Digital Content for Early Age Learning enables a Teacher Handbook which is simple to understand and even simpler to implement. It is designed to empower the Anganwadi worker to deliver teaching lessons effectively.

We have simplified the structure of the handbook by breaking down the development goals into age appropriate competencies which have further been broken down into class wise learning goals. For each Learning Goal, we have a set of sequentially arranged animated videos, practice questions, books, worksheets and puzzles, each designed to enable the teacher to engage the students better and with delivery of each module, enable students to improve. There is no cross referencing required and each lesson is complete in itself. Once the teacher finishes one lesson and they can move to the next.

At iDream Education, since the very inception we have carried one belief which we carry even today. You can empower the teachers only by simplifying their life. iPrep’s Digital Content for Early Age Learning is designed on the same philosophy.
