Revision in Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) 

UP Board announced a revision in the syllabus for Classes 10, 11, and 12 following the modifications made by NCERT.

  • Earlier, NCERT dropped numerous subjects from the textbooks of Classes 6 to 12. This is done to streamline the curriculum for the academic session 2022-23. Consequently, this led to alterations in the curriculum of all boards, including UP Board Content adhering to the NCERT curriculum. The updated syllabus was enforced for the academic year 2023-24.
  • NCERT has revised the curriculum for Classes 10 and 11, dropping specific textbooks. In the Class 11 textbook ‘Themes In World History,’ chapters such as  ‘Central Islamic lands,’ ‘Confrontation of Cultures,’ and ‘The Industrial Revolution’ have been dropped. Similarly, from the Class 10 ‘Democratic Politics-II’ textbook, chapters such as ‘Democracy and Diversity’, ‘Popular Struggles and Movement’, and ‘Challenges to Democracy’ have been removed.

Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) has revised the curriculum for classes 9 to 12 as per the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020

  • Concepts of drone technology and robotics have been added to the Class 12 syllabus. 
  • The Internet of Things (IoT), augmented and virtual technology blockchain technology, cloud computing, and 3D printing have been introduced for Class 11 students.
  • Class 10 students will be taught the basics of how to avoid hacking, cyber fraud, phishing, and E-governance.
  • Commuter communication, programming techniques and networking which were earlier taught to students of class 10th will now be taught in class 9th. 

“Substantial revisions have been implemented in the UP Board Content. The revisions are done particularly in the computer syllabus, with the vision to educate students on modern topics and prepare them for the demands of modern times”, said, Dibyakant Shukla- UP Board Secretary

UP Government revised the syllabus, students of classes 9 to 12 will now read the biography of 50 great men including Veer Savakar’s Biography

  • The list of these fifty individuals includes freedom fighters, revolutionaries, historians, social reformers, and eminent figures. The ones who made profound sacrifices in the struggle for India’s independence.
  • Biographies added in class 9th are Begum Hazrat Mahal, Gautam Buddha, Veer Kunwar Singh, Chandra Shekar Azad, Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar, Birsa Munda, Chhatrapati Shivaji, Jyotiba Phule, Vinoba Bhave, Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, Jagdish Chandra Bose, and Srinivasa Ramanujan.
  • Biographies added in class 10th are life stories of Roshan Singh, Sukhdev, Mangal Pandey, Gopal Krishna Gokhale, Lokmanya Tilak, Khudiram Bose, Swami Vivekananda, and Mahatma Gandhi.
  • Biographies added in class 11th are Bhagat Singh, Dr, Bhim Rao Ambedkar, Ramprasad Bismil, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Bharat Ratna Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya, Mahavir Jain, Raja Rammohan Roy, Arvind Ghosh, Nana Saheb, Sarojini Naidu, Shalya Physician Sushrut, MaharishI Patanjali, and Dr. Homi Jehangir Bhabha.
  • Class 12th will read about, Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi, Ramakrishna Paramhansa, Lal Bahadur Shastri, Rajguru Rabindranath Tagore, Maharana Pratap, Rani Laxmibai, Adi Shankaracharya, Bankim Chandra Chatterjee, Dr, APJ Abdul Kalam, Guru Nanak Dev, Panini, Ramanujacharya, C.V. Raman and Aryabhatta.
