In an era where technology is continuously reshaping the landscape of education, the traditional chalk-and-blackboard classrooms are making way for a more dynamic and engaging blended learning environment with smart classes. 

Smart Class Setup in Schools of Karnataka

To introduce students and teachers to digital, we implemented iPrep Digital Class, a smart classroom solution, in partnership with BAIF, across four schools in Karnataka. In order to complement their conventional teaching methods, we provided content tailored for grades 1 to 10, aligned with the Karnataka Board curriculum and in the Kannada medium. All of this content is preloaded on a pendrive, eliminating the necessity for internet connectivity and providing an uncomplicated and efficient solution to enabling blended learning in classrooms.

Smart Classes Enabling Blended Learning

During our recent visit to schools in Karnataka for smart classroom training, we witnessed acceptance of the way students perceive blended learning. The excitement in their eyes was palpable as they beheld a 50-inch MI Android TV, the centerpiece of their classrooms. For these students, the concept of textbooks coming to life with vibrant visuals was beyond something they dreamt of. During training, when we were introducing students and teachers to different categories of content available on iPrep, a student named Murli enthusiastically stood up and shared the idea of incorporating practice into classroom activities. He eagerly proposed to the teacher that they could use practice and reward students with chocolates. This student’s suggestion vividly demonstrated the student’s enthusiasm for incorporating smart class content and their understanding of using digital content in daily learning. 

Smart Class Training

Many teachers initially resisted the idea of incorporating technology into their teaching methods. However, our team’s persistent efforts paid off as we guided them through the process of accessing the smart class setup. The moment they realized that it was as simple as switching on the TV, plugging in a pen drive, and playing content on iPrep, their skepticism turned into excitement. 

As the training progressed, our team noticed a change in the mindset of the teachers. They willingly go through content categories available on iPrep, including practice exercises, animated video lessons, interactive lessons, and notes. 

What amazed us most was their wholehearted acceptance of digital content. 

• They recognized that the content on iPrep was aligned with the Karnataka Board and was presented in the Kannada medium, making it a perfect complement to their classroom teaching. 
• In very little time, teachers from schools of Karnataka started considering smart class setup as a useful tool that would not only enhance their teaching capabilities but also make it easier for them to convey complex concepts to their students. 

This transition from resistance to enthusiasm for technology in education highlights the potential of smart classrooms enabling a blended learning environment and improving learning experience for both students and teachers.
