The central as well as state governments are working towards enhancing infrastructure in schools across India. In line with this objective, the Uttar Pradesh government has launched ‘Operation Kayakalp‘ to revamp primary schools throughout the state. This initiative strives to create a clean and secure environment with modern facilities for children studying in government-run primary and upper primary schools of the state. 

Implementation of Smart Classrooms by iDream Education

iDream Education is glad to contribute to this endeavor by implementing iPrep Digital Class, a smart classroom solution on Interactive Flat Panels (IFPs). The implementation is in collaboration with NK Gupta Construction, with inspiring narratives capturing the difference the initiative is making to Status Quo.

Smart Class with Bilingual Curriculum Content

During training on using smart class content, our team members observed that both teachers and students were joyful to see the smart class setup in their classrooms. It is a new approach they had never previously encountered or even considered. Curriculum-aligned content as per UP Board is being provided for grades 1st to 8th and interestingly, it is made available in both Hindi and English. 

Enabling content aligned with the curriculum and preferred language made their learning more interesting. Students were happy to see their books in the form of video lessons and that too in two languages as some wanted to learn in Hindi while some of them showed their willingness to learn in English. Bilingual education fosters an environment among students that is fertile for learning using the bilingual learning interplay.

Experiences from Implementation and Training

• Teachers were happy to see a smart class on Windows set up as they had experience using a computer and were a little familiar with it. This familiarity with technology added to their comfort and confidence in using the new system. This became possible due to our customized implementation, which integrated the technology into Interactive Flat Panels (IFPs) using Window OPS.
• Teachers in some schools expressed their delight at seeing their class content being utilized offline, despite having WiFi access available. Others shared their joy at having access to smart class content similar to their textbooks, a possibility they had never imagined before. 

We are optimistic that they will make consistent use of the smart class resources moving forward and contribute to a meaningful impact. Operation Kayakalp, since its inception in June 2018 is a testament to the commitment of the state government to enhance the quality of education in our primary and secondary schools.

The statistics clearly reflect the substantial improvements in school facilities, from the availability of clean drinking water to separate toilets for girls, all of which contribute to a conducive learning environment. To further bolster these efforts, the government’s call for collaboration with public representatives, voluntary organizations, gazetted officers, and alumni demonstrates a collective commitment to the rejuvenation campaign of ‘Operation Kayakalp.’ As we continue on this journey, we remain dedicated to ensuring that every child in the state has access to a quality education in a truly ‘smart school.
