Empowering NGOs to Make Smart Education Accessible

A National Sample Survey Office report states that India’s literacy rate for people above seven years was around 80.9% in 2023-2024. Despite gradual improvements in literacy levels, urban-rural and gender disparities remain its Achilles’ heel. Ultimately hindering the development of India’s education ecosystem.

This is where non-governmental organisations (NGOs) working in education step in to bridge the education gaps. They work to make education more accessible to students from rural areas, marginalised, and underserved communities.

Recognising the need for consistent support, iDream Education has joined hands with several NGOs in India as a trusted EdTech partner. This article highlights how iDream Education helps NGO-driven educational initiatives across India.

Importance of Collaboration between NGOs and EdTech

Although NGOs play a key role in minimising the noticeable educational disparity, they require support and the backing of modern digital tools that facilitate learning at the grassroots level.

Here’s why:

Quality of Infrastructure and Content

Although a budget of around 2.8% of India’s GDP is allocated to education, low-income and government schools face several challenges. This includes a lack of basic digital infrastructure, access to relevant and quality digital education content, and skilled educators.

Low Digital Literacy

Apart from suboptimal infrastructure, low-speed and fluctuating internet, language barrier (students preferring digital learning in hindi), and poor digital literacy among teachers and students are major roadblocks that NGOs cannot address independently.

Therefore, it is a good idea to partner with an EdTech company. It opens the floodgates to offline-friendly, customised, and multilingual digital learning solutions.

NGOs Often Require Expertise and Digital Tools

With their regular workload to sustain operations, NGOs can only do so much to drive meaningful outcomes.

In reality, they are better off with EdTech partners that understand their social impact vision. They provide the necessary digital tools and hardware that enhance grassroots education and offer valuable insights.

iDream Education: Tailor-Made Tools and Learning Solutions for NGOs

iDream Education offers an array of digital learning solutions that are specifically developed to cater to the diverse requirements of students in low-income communities and infrastructure-limited schools.

Digital Libraries

The iPrep Digital Library is an innovative, offline-enabled ICT lab solution designed to bring personalised digital learning to government and budget private schools across India.

Preloaded with curriculum-aligned K12 digital education content for Grades 1 to 12 in English, Hindi, and regional languages, it runs seamlessly on tablets or Chromebooks without requiring internet access

With animated lessons, interactive books, quizzes, and life-skills videos, the solution empowers students with holistic education. Its energy-efficient devices, lockable charging racks, and offline data logging make it ideal for rural and semi-urban schools.

Smart Classrooms

iDream Education’s smart classroom solution is compatible with Android smart TVs, interactive flat panels, projectors, and open‑source Windows/Linux systems. It supports the existing hardware infrastructure in urban and rural settings.

It also comes preloaded with curriculum-aligned, bilingual (English/Hindi and regional) content. It’s offline-first design stores usage logs locally and syncs to a cloud dashboard. Hence, making it ideal for low-connectivity zones, enabling data-driven insights for NGO-affiliated teachers and administrators.

Tablet-based PAL

iPrep PAL (Personalized Adaptive Learning) is a comprehensive, bilingual adaptive learning platform designed for students in grades 3–12 using tablets, notebooks, or mobile devices.

It starts with a diagnostic test for each chapter. That creates a customised learning path that blends remedial video lessons, practice questions, and a final mastery test.

Anganwadi Learning

Early education and Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) sets a strong basis for future development. To aid in this, Learning TV and TLM for Anganwadi provide engaging and interactive audio-video educational content in various regional languages at Anganwadi centres across India.

Solutions for Disabled Learners

iDreams also provides multiple solutions that help disabled learners with functional needs receive equal learning opportunities, including sign-language-supported content

iDream Education’s Partnership Models with NGOs

Empowering NGOs to Make Smart Education Accessible

iDream Education follows various partnership models with NGOs for seamless collaboration and execution of all types of projects.

Implementation of CSR Programmes

We work closely with NGOs to facilitate a seamless execution of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) education programmes. We offer a perfect blend of expertise and digital learning solutions.

CSR initiatives also align with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, emphasising holistic development and personalised learning.

Joint Proposal Building for Government Projects

It is hard to ignore the involvement of government and regulatory bodies in introducing policy reforms and new digital literacy initiatives. This is why we collaborate with several government entities to promote digital learning and improve digital literacy.

Additionally, we also help NGOs co-create proposals for various government-funded projects by offering EdTech expertise, cutting-edge learning tools, and showcasing past projects to strengthen funding applications.

Track Important Reporting and Usage Metrics

NGOs can no longer rely on their instinct and past achievements to scale learning outcomes and understand their impact.

iDream Education offers customised reports and real-time usage analytics that help NGOs stay on top of a programme’s progress, track learning outcomes, and validate their efforts with accurate and reliable data.

On-Ground Assistance for Seamless Adoption

In addition, we provide practical training to NGO workers, educators, and Anganwadi workers. This is done to ensure they understand the use case of different digital learning solutions.

Case Studies: iDream Education Partners with NGOs in India

iDream Education has partnered with over 100 Indian NGOs to bridge the education gap and provide the best digital learning solutions and tools to underserved communities.

Let’s look at a couple of examples.

Partnership with Cipla Foundation in Dhar District

Challenge: Dhar, a deeply resource-stricken and tribal-dominated district in Madhya Pradesh, had long struggled with limited access to quality education. Infrastructure gaps, resource constraints, and language barriers made learning a distant dream for many.

iDream Education’s Impact: In collaboration with the Cipla Foundation, we successfully implemented digital learning in Dhar by providing education tablets with a pre-installed iPrep app.

  • These tablets featured interactive and curriculum-aligned content, including animated video lessons, chapter-wise assessments, and multilingual support to address local needs.
  • Over 4,000 students gained access to personalised, engaging learning experiences via digital libraries and updated educational resources—all without relying on internet connectivity.
  • The project marked a significant milestone in our mission to enable equitable learning for marginalised communities.
  • It has also been featured by leading Indian media outlets for its innovative approach and impactful results.

Partnership With Sanjeevani NGO in Uttarakhand

Challenge: Enhancing digital literacy and the quality of education in remote villages in Uttarakhand.

How iDream Made an Impact: We were actively involved in implementing and supporting Sanjeevani NGO’s digital literacy initiative – Vikas Evam Jan Kalyan Samiti.

This partnership allowed us to successfully implement iPrep Digital Class or transform a regular classroom into a smart classroom in 40 government schools in two remote villages in Uttarakhand.

The smart classroom platform provided uninterrupted access to learning content, aligned with the Uttarakhand State Board of Education curriculum, to more than 20,000 students and more than 500 teachers.

Wrap Up

iDream Education recognises the contribution of NGOs toward making education accessible to students across low-income, rural, and remote regions of India.

That said, NGOs would do better with additional support to improve grassroots education and make a measurable, sustainable impact.

This is why we offer a wide range of tailored digital learning tools and regional educational content that can be accessed even in areas with poor internet connectivity. These solutions can help NGOs provide localised solutions and transform regular classrooms into smart classrooms, bridging the education gap across India.
